Annual Fundraising 2021 Goal is met!
Thank you all who have funded our work again this year. So many of you commit your energy and your time to this work, and we appreciate your financial investment as well. Thank you!
"My life has been so enriched with the social justice work, friendship and kindness, plus it's nice to be accepted for me or in spite of me. I feel so honored to know you and congregations are doing the work of acknowledging your white privilege, admitting the anti-blackness campaigns around us and trying to dismantle them. I respect the resistance and having boots on the ground when you can."
-UU Pen Pal Lonnie Smith, at Stateville Correctional, Crest Hill, Illinois
We want those incarcerated in Illinois to know they are not alone and that, as UUA President the Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray reminds us, “No one is outside the circle of love.”
Please join us and invest in this vision.
We can sustain this ministry only if we have the support of people who care about our shared humanity with people in prison. Your contribution will help fund our half-time minister’s salary, benefits, and travel costs, plus the costs of our education offerings to congregations.
The In Prison Ministry attempts to create a spiritual space where all people can come as they are and be affirmed in their inherent worth and dignity, no matter their identities or past harm they may have caused.
The outside work of the UU Prison Ministry focuses on preparing our congregations to become radically welcoming places for formerly incarcerated and convicted people. We embrace the call of UUism to make our congregations accepting of all people.
The Prison Ministry will also connect UUs to local and state-level policy initiatives that seek to build a world community of peace, liberty and justice for all.

UU Prison Ministry of Illinois is a 501(c)3 organization, so your contributions are tax-deductible.
We are funded in part by the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility - and grateful for their support.
It is easy to give either to the UUPMI General Fund, Solidarity Circles/Re-Entry Fund (supports congregations working with the newly released to integrate back into the free world), or the Commissary Fund (gives those inside prison some money to spend on necessities).
Just send a text to 844-907-1845 with the amount you wish to contribute and the code for where you would like it to go (e.g. Give 50 General, Give 50 Circles, or 50 Commissary).
The first time you send this text, you will receive a text shortly with a link to register. Click on the link and complete the instructions. Once the set-up procedure is complete, you will receive a text verification and a receipt of your donation via email. Any donations thereafter using this telephone number will be automatic.
Once you have completed this process successfully, you can save the number in your Contacts as UUPMI Donation, making the process even easier next time.
We hope you enjoy this new method of supporting UUPMI and we thank you for your generosity.
